Sense, The National Deafblind and Rubella Association

Welcome to the Web site for Sense, the world's largest organisation working with and campaigning for deafblind people, their families and professionals who work with them.

My name is Graham Hicks and I am deafblind myself. I am pictured on the back of the tandem bicycle in the nearby photograph. As Sense's Development Manager, I am committed to providing service and fighting for the rights of deafblind people.

Founded as a parents' self-help group in 1955, Sense now serves people who were born deafblind or acquired deafblindness later in life. Families remain at Sense's core: Sense brings together the work of doctors, teachers, therapists, social workers and other professionals, each looking at a different aspect of a deafblind person's life. Working in partnership, Sense offers integrated services to meet the range of needs of deafblind people and their families.

Sense's specialist services include:

On this site, you will learn more about deafblindness and multiple disability and link to other sites about deafblindness. You will also have the chance to meet some people in the Sense family and learn about our services. Finally, you can find out how to support Sense most effectively.
